The Penta KT66 is probably one of the most reliable and great sounding KT66's out there, very close to the real thing. Made by the Shuguang factory in China for Penta Labs, and copied off the original GEC KT66. Not a reworked KT88 with a metal base like some recent faux KT66's. SINGLES ONLY.

Cool Looking tubes Review by Marc
These are Mainly the Shaugang KT66 (somtimes they are Sino) And the Chinese KT66 is a good tube. Its the Tube which is stock in the Marshall Vintage Modern. Marshall does not sell those tubes to the General public so if you want a decent KT66 but your depressed that they are branded with chinese trademarks get the Penta!! It s the same tube but looks really 70's a GEC re-labeled for westinghouse or something....The chinese KT66 is one of 2 new production KT66 tubes i will buy, and i only buy the Penta labeled ones. Best KT66's for Knight KB-85 stereo power amplifier! Review by Lynn
I bought a Knight kb-85 power amp two years ago, suppose to be ready for kt66's instead of the original el37's which it was meant to use. I had it all restored and biased down from 65ma to 40ma. I installed a quad of Penta kt66's with a pair of Penta 5ar4 rectifiers and fired it up. To this day I just can't get over the sound that comes from this 50 year old amp. It is all there, sparkling highs, smooth mids and bass that you can feel! I now have well over 500 hours on these tubes and they just keep getting better! I am ordering another quad for backups! Best KT66's for the Marshall Vintage Modern Review by Rob
I bought a pair of Penta KT66's rated for early distortion for my Marshall Vintage Modern 2266, and felt like the amp came alive for the first time. I had tried 3 other brands of KT66, including the standard Shuguangs, and it seemed to me that the Penta's had significantly more high end response than the other brands, and the amp became more responsive and less compressed sounding. There was a noticeable improvement in the overall tone of the amp with these. Highly recommended. I just ordered another pair as a backup. (Posted on 5/18/12)
Favorite for Marshall 2266 Review by Git'r Pick'r
Another satisfied Marshall Vintage Modern guy. I tried the Gold Lions and while they sound good, big full sound, to me they were kind of hi-fi sounding.

These Penta/Shuguangs make this amp sound like a Marshall, not a hi-fi tube audio amp. Awesome for JTM plexi tones. (Posted on 5/12/12)
