The Ei ECC83/12AX7's were produced in Yugoslavia on Telefunken tooling and resemble the smooth plate Telefunken series. Recent NOS collection purchase yields 7 beautiful gray plates labeled Ei and Groove Tubes. These test nicely. Grab them fast, they will not last. ONE LEFT.
- Good performance worth twice the price Review by davide256
- I bought a pair of the NOS Ei ECC83's originally to roll with the Sovtek 12AX7LPS tubes in the phono stage of my CJ Pv10A preamp. There they outperformed the Sovteks and the new Sensor Mullard 12AX7's handily with more detail and dynamics. On a whim I decided to swap them into the pre main section where the manufacturer recommendation is 12AU7's in place of the NOS Siemens and Mullards12AU7s I had been using. This was an outstanding change opening up gobs of details and increased dynamics. Overall the only deficit is a touch of dryness on some vocals... an analytic vs lush sound. The 12AX7's that came closest were the JanPhillips 12AX7WA's i have in details... these may be superior but because of use/age the ones I own didn't have the high frequency extension of the Ei's (Posted on 11/9/12)
- Love the Ei ECC83's Review by Cotton
I would just like to say thank you for your recommendations on the NOS Ei ECC83s. They rock. Just getting home from a gig and they blew me away. I ended up placing both of them in the PI position of a couple amps because of the dynamics plus feel that they added. I tried one in the V3 of the Boogie Mark IV. However, it was bit too bright for my taste. However, the JJ ECC803S filled in nicely there.
The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is a nice sounding tube. However, it has been out shinned by both the Ei Yugo ECC83s and the Tung Sol RIs that I already had in there IMO.
I digress, thanks again for your help. I'll be ordering more tubes very soon. I'm currently playing around with a NOS Mullard from the Blackburn factory and other RCA 12AX7/A/7025s (I really seem to dig those tubes). Once I reach a conclusion on what I think will work best for my ear, I'll get back in touch with you to place some larger orders for my rigs and back stock replacements.
Great Service! Keep up the great work!!
