Great for Overdrive! Review by David S.
I picked up two of these after hearing a fellow Carvin V3M user had great luck with one in the V2 spot of that amp, which is where the majority of the overdrive for the two lead channels comes from. They were RIGHT. This tube really warmed up the amplifiers two lead channels, which are identical. Just a great lead sound now. The JJ I had in there before was just a bit too dark sounding.

I can't wait to try these in other amplifier gain stages. (Posted on 6/28/17)
Marshall DSL 40C Review by Chris
This tube rounded out the pre amp at v3 warm and sweet. I could like it in v2 also it adds warmth to the distortion. (Posted on 11/20/15)
Vox AC30c2/x retube Review by Frank

New tubes for my AC30 C2/X arrived on Wednesday. Installed and spent
Wednesday afternoon and evening, and lots of time yesterday with the

Your recommendation for me to use Sovtek EL84Ms, V1 = Mullard 12AX7 CV4004,
V2= Ruby 12AX7 7025SS HG, and V3= Mullard 12AX7 long plate is a HUGE
improvement compared to the JJs that I had in the amp, and far superior to
the OEM tubes.

As we discussed, I use my AC30 C2/X primarily for early British invasion
stuff, and your tubes certainly deliver that tone.

During my research to discover what tubes to use for the early "Beatles"
tone, I found that on forums the answers are all over the map, and mostly
did not make any sense at all. I know there are other players like myself
that look for the early Brit invasion sound from their late model AC30s -
maybe you should think of offering this as a tube set as the answer.

I'd like to mention, that to get that sound, guitars should be plugged into
the LOW input - especially for Casino's, Rickenbackers, and Gretsch's.

I am very pleased and excited with the tone, and I thank you!

Laney Ironheart 120H Preamp tube upgrade Review by Thomas
I recently was able to acquire a NOS 1962 Telefunken smooth plate ECC83 to upgrade V1. So, I looked into these Ruby 7025SS HG "Silver Specials", to install in V2 & V3 positions. I heard and read great things about them, So, let me tell ya, they are AMAZING!!
My amp came stock with a JJECC83S in V1; Ruby 12AX7 AC5 HG's in V2 & V3 & balanced PI.
This has improved the overall gain structure, presence, smoothness, as well as, clarity of both the rhythm and lead gain stages. The clean channel is buttery smooth, with great late break-up, when driven. Thanks, Doug for the info on these & super fast delivery!!

Mini Rectifier to Monster Rectifier! Review by Hector
I bought a mini rectifier used with stock tubes. The thing sounded great but I felt I could get much more out of it. I changed v1 and v2 to Ruby 12ax7 ac5 hg+ and it improved the tone but it still felt a little short on umph. I placed this 7025ss in v3 and the amp gained so much rich complexity and thickness. It remains articulate and punchy. It feels so much more mix ready. It isn't lacking in any way. I also added a Mullard 12ax7 in the phase inverter spot for its claimed fizz reducing properties and am here to report fizz is gone.

The tone is big, broad, complex, and delicious!

Thanks, Doug! (Posted on 11/25/14)

I finally ordered the tubes you recommended for my Orange Rocker 30. What a difference! They amp just came back to life and has never sounded better. This is what an Orange is supposed to sound like! The tubes got here in Southern Oregon in three days and I could tell that extra care was taken to pack them so they would survive the trip. Thanks again, you guys rock, and now, so do I!

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe retube Review by Eric
Received the Tubes today ! Wow what a nice combination. The Tung-Sol 7581's are beautifully warm and can be dialed in for a great bright tone. Not glassy or too brittle. This amp really sings nicely and has great tone now. Together with the Tung Sol 12ax7 in v1, and the Ruby 7025SSHG in v2 the Hot Rod Deluxe sounds so much more lively too me. I left the jj803s in v3, it really sounds perfect.
Thanks again !
For the Great Service

VHT Special 6 Ultra retube Review by Kirk
Hey Doug,

Got the tubes, and quick too. I'm extremely happy with the results. I love the tone of the 5881, and your suggestion on the Ruby 7025SS HG for V2 was right on the money. The amp now barks instead of whines. The tone is great and it almost has a three dimensional sound now. Fat bouncy lows, smooth mids and crystal clear highs. I didn't know my guitar could sound so good. I'll be ordering a backup set in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for the great advise and the fast service.

JVM 410H Review by Jeff
I gotta say, those Ruby's 7025SS HG's kick ass (so much so, that I want to order a spare set or two in the next coming weeks if you still have some available). My JVM sounds incredible. I started messing around with the V1 position and tried 3 different tubes. Tungsol, Svetlana, and a Mullard. I actually preferred the Svetlana over the Tungsol, it was a little more focused and not so raw. However, after I put the Mullard (RI) in there...there it was...the cleans (I say that loosely with Marshall) we so plexi-ish and broke up to this gorgous creamy fuzz, the crunch was this beautiful articulate thick latte foam goodness with solid punch and squak that you'd expect from a Marshall...then there was the overdrive. I was never able to control it before and it drove me nuts...but with that combo of tubes in was touch sensitive and articule without sounding overly compressed...and man, it was a joy to play.

Anywhoo, sorry for the long winded email...just so stoked that these tubes did exactley what I needed them to. In one sense, they really opened up the cleans and crunch on the amp...but also focused the overdrive and tamed it to the point of being usable again.

Hughes & Kettner retube Review by Kidfixer
Used the Ruby 7025SS HG in the V2 spot on my H&K Tubemeister-18 (with a Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ in V1, and a matched set of Ruby EL84CZ for power) on Doug's recommendation. Difference was immediately apparent, especially on the clean channel, with creamier tone and better harmonics. On the overdrive channel I noticed brighter (less muddy) distortion, increased pick-attack and improved sustain. Very happy with my choice.

Thanks, Doug. (Posted on 10/17/12)
